Prestigious Annual Awards Program Recognizes Companies and Products Driving Innovation in the Global Clean Technology Industry
ATLANTA, April 10, 2025 – Cleantech hydrogen energy company JTEC Energy, Inc. today announced it is the recipient of the “Energy Production Innovation Award” in the second annual CleanTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by CleanTech Breakthrough, a leading independent market intelligence organization that evaluates and recognizes standout climate and clean technology companies, products and services around the globe.
The Johnson Thermo-Electrochemical Converter (JTEC) is a novel device that uses electrochemical transformations and hydrogen to convert a heat differential into usable electricity at unprecedented efficiency. The JTEC can be used by developing nations in need of new sources of clean energy that will not drain their natural resources, as well as serving as a new source of renewable clean energy to power homes, buildings, and vehicles. When the JTEC is run in reverse, it acts as a cooling device, making it of particular use to data farm operators looking to cool data centers and/or harness the heat emissions from the servers and convert them into usable electricity that can also help run the centers. In the past year, JTEC Energy has successfully increased the power output of the device tenfold. It expects to begin field trials this year.
“JTEC is addressing the enormity of our energy problem with an incredibly imaginative response. The U.S. and other developed nations use more than our share of the world’s electricity to power homes, cars, computers, and cellphones. We need newer, more efficient and cleaner solutions to meet these rising energy demands,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, CleanTech Breakthrough. “To put this potential energy source into perspective, the geothermal heat from the oil wells in the US alone can be converted into enough electricity to power the entire country. We’re honored to recognize JTEC with the ‘Energy Production Innovation Award’ for 2025!”

“Our mission is to provide a new clean power source for the world. The JTEC can be bigger than solar and wind combined,” said Mike McQuary, JTEC Energy’s CEO. “We’re grateful to CleanTech Breakthrough for recognizing our achievement and honoring us with this award for the second year in a row.”
The mission of the annual CleanTech Breakthrough Awards program is to spotlight and celebrate the global innovators who are transforming the climate and clean technology landscape. The program aims to perform the industry’s most comprehensive analysis of standout leaders and technologies shaping a more sustainable future. This year’s program received thousands of nominations from more than 14 countries worldwide, reflecting the global momentum and impact of clean technology advancements.
About JTEC Energy
Former NASA scientist and Super Soaker inventor Dr. Lonnie Johnson invented the Johnson Thermo-Electrochemical Converter (JTEC), a cleantech hydrogen energy device that transforms heat into energy more efficiently than any device in history.
